2011 has been a challenging and interesting year for me, on many fronts. Work, family, career choices, health… the list continues…
2012 has some other significance for me, as I’m turning 40 half way through the year. For some reason, the big 4 0 is a turning point for many people, so I guess that has some impact on me as well. This milestone in my life brings a lot of questions, and not too many answers. In the next week or two, I’ll take some time off, go to a remote location (no internet or phone reception), and reflect on the past 40 years, and try to make some plans for the next 40. Someone once told me that the best way to predict the future, is to create it.
By “creating the future” I assume he meant: set some goals, have something to look forward to, have a road map to get to a desired destination. At an earlier stage in my life this didn’t really mean much.. I went day by day, without a clear direction, and just got by. I think I grew up in many respects, as age, experience, and having kids give you different perspective on life.
I few years back I’ve put together a simple document, to help me clarify my wishes, and wants, and make them achievable goals. As I said before, I’ll be taking a couple of days off this holiday season, and fill it in, planning for next year, and the following years. If you’d like, download this Goals and Action Plan document, and do the same.
Happy Festive season, and all the best for the rest of your life
