Jim Rohn<\/a> frequently asks: “What do you want to be known for? ” <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I have to admit, that until I heard Mr. Rohn asking this question, I never gave it much thought. After watching one of Jim’s presentations, I couldn’t get this question out of my head! and I needed to find an answer. Not easy, let me tell you. As a marketer, I was always aware of Brands, but it never resonated with me to look into my own brand, and find a reasonable answer to this question: <\/span><\/span>“What do you want to be known for? ”
\nI went on a quest to find the answer. The best things about most people, that we are a social animal – we are surrounded by other animals, friends, family, business associates, etc.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

They all have an opinion about us, sometimes they even share it with us, and sometimes they share their opinion about us, with others!\u00a0 To make sure people in my social and business surrounding are sharing the “right” opinion, I needed to know what this opinion is. So:
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve sent this email to a selected bunch of friends and long time business contacts:<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve known each other for quite a while now, and this is a time when I need your help.I\u2019m going through a personal development<\/a> exercise. One of the tasks I have, is to get people I\u2019ve known for a while, to describe me, in a few words, or phrases.It could be a personal description, or a business related one. About my appearance, behaviour, and values.Get personal, and honest. This what this is all about. If you only try to be nice \u2013 it won\u2019t help me much. No need to be nasty either \ud83d\ude42
\n<\/span>What I\u2019m trying to do, is to see if what I think of myself, and what you think of me, are somewhat related \ud83d\ude42
\n<\/span>So, if you\u2019re keen to help me, please reply to this email, with a few words that comes to mind when you think of ME.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’ve attached a nice picture of me, and signed my name.<\/p>\n

And guess what? People love to share their opinions. Some share all the time, and some just waiting for an opportunity. I BRAVELY gave them the opportunity \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

The responses were great! It can be a great ego boost, when people you know and love, tell you all the good things they think of you. It is also a reality check, when these people get the opportunity to point out some of our shortcomings. For example, one of the things that kept coming up was that I was involved in too many things, and therefore was considered un-focused.<\/p>\n

So what I’ve done, is looked at all the businesses and activities I’m involved in, and found a common thread. Now I stand for one thing, which is why I’m engaged in all of those activities – I love to help businesses develop through developing their people. From the head – down…<\/p>\n

I made up two titles for myself, which I’m using to see which is better (by the responses I get):<\/p>\n

People Development Manager, or Personal Marketer. This is what I want to be known for.<\/p>\n

And then I explain: I help people realize they are in the PEOPLE business, and not just product and services.<\/p>\n

Yes, I do sales and marketing, I’m involved in advertising, job search<\/a>, profiling, and the list goes on, but the bottom line is – I help business owners develop their businesses, and I help people develop themselves. That’s it!<\/p>\n

My motto<\/a> is:<\/p>\n

I show people how to connect with other people, personally and in their business.<\/p>\n
