{"id":648,"date":"2010-03-26T12:40:41","date_gmt":"2010-03-26T02:40:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/?p=648"},"modified":"2010-03-26T12:40:41","modified_gmt":"2010-03-26T02:40:41","slug":"linkedin-tip-4-etiquette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/newme\/linkedin-tip-4-etiquette\/","title":{"rendered":"Linkedin tip #4 &#8211; Etiquette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"LinkedIn\" rel=\"homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\">Linkedin<\/a> becoming more and more popular, and many more people joining  every day (latest stat &#8211; 1,000,000 <strong>new subscribers every 12 days<\/strong>!),  it is time to talk about what is acceptable, and what isn&#8217;t, when using this networking tool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DON&#8217;T&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>use      the standard linkedin invitation to connect<\/strong>, unless you&#8217;ve discussed      this with the invitee prior to sending, and they know you well. <strong>Personalize<\/strong> your invitation, tell the person <strong>why<\/strong> you&#8217;d like to connect<a href=\"http:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/newme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/webtreatsetc-blue-jelly-linkedin-logo-square2.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-617\" title=\"Linkedin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/newme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/webtreatsetc-blue-jelly-linkedin-logo-square2-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"147\" height=\"147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/newme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/webtreatsetc-blue-jelly-linkedin-logo-square2-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/newme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/webtreatsetc-blue-jelly-linkedin-logo-square2-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.razchorev.com\/newme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/webtreatsetc-blue-jelly-linkedin-logo-square2.png 420w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 147px) 100vw, 147px\" \/><\/a>, and      also indicate your <strong>existing relationship<\/strong> (choose from the menu of      options)<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>tell      me you&#8217;re my &#8220;friend&#8221;, <\/strong>unless of course, you are. If we had      no prior interaction, you&#8217;d need to explain to me why I should accept you      to my network.<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>spam<\/strong>!      Even if I&#8217;m in your network, I haven&#8217;t opted in to get your newsletter. If      I invite you to my wedding, you won&#8217;t go around handing out your      brochures, would you?<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>advertise      on group discussions. <\/strong>There is a time and place for everything.      Group discussions are a great way to share information, show your      expertise, and get feedback. Nothing else!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DO&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8230;have      a complete and attractive profile. <\/strong>If you&#8217;re sending out      invitations, I want to be proud to have you in my network (so I can refer      you to others in my network).<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>have      a professional head shot. <\/strong>I want to SEE who I&#8217;m dealing with.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8230;participate      in discussions. <\/strong>It will add a lot of credibility, and will attract      people to your profile, to learn more about you.<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>give      people a reason to contact you. <\/strong>If you participate in discussions, ask      and answer questions (especially answer!), people will be drawn to hear      more from you.<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<strong>advertise <\/strong>your blog. When you share useful information (not bluntly advertising      your services), people will buy from you. Trust me &#8211; it does work!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Like in any other network, offline or online &#8211; learn the do&#8217;s and don&#8217;t&#8217;s , what is acceptable and recommended, and what isn&#8217;t.
